Local 23 is a clothing exchange store. We offer in-store trade or cash for the many wonderful items you have in your closet, that you no longer want!
You can use your instore credit at either of our two vintage/second-hand shops: Local 23 and Annex Vintage.
What do you accept:
We accept vintage as well as modern on-trend clothing and accessories. Clothing must be clean (freshly laundered), and in good, wearable condition (free of stains and rips). For footwear, some slight scuffing is acceptable, but we will not accept anything with major damage, odour issues or missing heels.
What's the deal? Do you only give trade?
We offer 1/3 in-store credit of the price we will sell your item at. So if we take a dress that will be sold in store for 24$, we will give you 8$ to use in the stores (Local 23 and Annex Vintage). You can ask for cash but it is substantially less (half of what we can give you in credit) so exchange really is the better deal! We will take items from any season, but we may offer you slightly less for any items we have to store (ie a tank dress submitted in November).
How can I show you my clothes? What's the procedure?
All items must be brought to Local 23. Annex Vintage does not accept drop-offs.
We prefer that you drop your stuff off. You can come by anytime during business hours. Within a week, you will get a call telling you how much credit we are giving you. We cannot call to discuss prices with you beforehand, so make sure to look around the store and see how things are priced. That way you can get an idea of how much you will get.
For drop-offs, you can bring as much stuff as you like but please make sure it is all clean, neatly folded, and free of any "unmentionables". We will not process any bag containing dirty clothing.
If you would like to deal with someone IN PERSON, our buyer is in the store on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays during business hours. Please call ahead to make sure she is there, and has time to see you. If should you decide to come in person, we ask you to limit the amount of stuff you bring to a single shopping bag.
We are very picky and only take a small fraction of what we are offered. If you want the remaining clothes back, be sure to tell us in advance. Once your bags are sorted, they cannot be returned. Anything you decide you do not want back, will go to charity or textile recycling.
What kind of stuff are you looking for?
We are looking for gently used vintage and modern clothing and accessories for men and women. Our clientele is on the younger side (20-40ish) and we are looking for special, fun clothes with a certain spark. We especially love 90's vintage.
In modern clothing, we are more interested in quality brands (for eg. Club Monaco, Zara, Top Shop) and we are less interested in mall brands (for eg. Ardene, Limite). We very rarely accept sportswear, office wear, knick knacks. Another important detail! How you present your clothes is very important! Clean and folded is our favourite way to view things!
Just to repeat: We are very picky about what we take, so please don't be surprised if we only accept a couple of your pieces. It really depends on what we need for the store. Please ask if you have any questions!
